Our Team

Our entire Adena team is focused on fostering student learners who are prepared to be innovative, life-long learners. Below is a list of key team members you may come in contact with as we partner to provide your child with a nurturing, engaging and enriching academic environment.

Kevin Thomas

Kevin Thomas


Kevin Thomas is excited to join the Adena family as its new Principal. 

He started his Lakota career as a third grade teacher at Union Elementary. Mr. Thomas went on to become the Shawnee ECS Assistant Principal from 2015-2018, and then Principal from 2019-2022. He also served as an assistant varsity girls basketball coach for Lakota West from 2002-2015; the team won the state championship in 2015.

Mr. Thomas enjoys working with a committed staff who love to watch children grow academically, emotionally, and physically. He is a big kid at heart, and loves nothing more than having fun with his students!

He and his wife Maria, a nurse anesthetist, have two sons, Gabe and Luke. They reside in the Kings Local School District.

Jordan Eisenhard

Assistant principal

Jordan Eisenhard has been Adena’s Assistant Principal since the 2020-2021 school year. She enjoys creating positive relationships with students and staff, leading teachers in their professional growth and witnessing the impact it makes on Adena learners, and helping develop well-rounded, confident, and responsible individuals who aspire to become their best self. Prior to arriving at Adena, Mrs. Eisenhard was an 8th grade teacher, cheerleading coach, and athletic director at Lakota Ridge Junior High. She also served as the coordinator of Lakota’s Secondary Summer School program.

Kimberly Doty


Kimberly Doty is the new Lakota School Counselor for the 2022-2023 school year. She received her bachelor’s degree in Psychology from the University of Cincinnati in 2020. She earned her master’s degree in School Counseling at the University of Cincinnati in 2022.

Ms. Doty is passionate about working with children who struggle with mental-health challenges. Her primary focus is to create a safe and supportive environment to encourage social and emotional growth. She can provide small group counseling or one on one counseling, surrounding various topics such as social skills, emotion regulation, self-control etc. Ms. Doty is the liaison for community agency partnerships that support our students and is also the case manager for 504 Plans.

Lesley Ferguson

Office Secretary

Lesley Ferguson has been Adena’s Office Secretary since the 2019-20 school year. Lesley and her husband, Grant, have 2 children that also went to Adena.  She is a trained professional singer and continues to share her talents with the community and Team Adena. Leslie's expertise and positive disposition makes everyone's job at Adena easier.

Karen Fogel

Registered Nurse
Karen Fogel has been Adena’s Nurse since the 2018/19 school year and has been a nurse since 1982. She is responsible for the care of students and staff, as well as maintaining immunization records and health information for students. Ms. Fogel enjoys being part of the Adena family, interacting daily with students, parents and staff.

Anne Petersen

Office Manager

Anne  joined Team Adena in December of 2022. Anne has a background in education and is involved in our community is a variety of areas. She and her husband, Steve, have 3 children that all graduated from Lakota West. Anne will work alongside Lesley to insure all things "Adena" run smoothly. 

Kelly Scarbrough

Innovation Specialist

Kelly Scarbrough has been Adena’s Innovation Specialist since the 2020-21 school year. Our Innovation Specialists provide our teachers with job-embedded professional development and coaching aligned with our district initiatives related to innovation and personalization learning. In addition to professional development, Innovation Specialists are also part of our curriculum and instructional design, along with the evolution of spaces such as the Innovation Hub to transform the learning experience for our students.
Lakota Innovation Specialists collaborate regularly as a K-12 Team and with our curriculum and technology departments to impact the K-12 learning experience for our students. Lakota is committed to preparing students for their future and our Innovation Specialists play an important part in helping us to transform the K-12 learning experience.
